The NSSN Love

Roslyn, Estee and I went back to VJ on Wednesday morning to help in the clearing of the band room. It was messed with leftover letters, gifts and other whatnots. We kinda managed to tidy things up within an hour and a half? Yeah, and then Daniel suggested watching a movie, so a whole group of us just decided to head on to Marina Square for lunch. Upon reaching, we were asked to write season's greetings on these huge balls, and a whole group of us conveniently scribbled on 4 or 5 balls, wishing VJ band all the best for next year's SYF, GWH, etc. Oh yes, when I said our group, I meant some VS boys, Daniel, YanZhu, Gillian, Rachel, Louisse, Ignatius, Springsfield, Melanie, Amelia, Yiyong, 3 of us IJ girls and some others I think, I can't exactly remember already=/

Lunched at the food court, we were kinda separated, so in the end, Winston, Springsfield, Roslyn and I formed a table. Thereafter, headed to the movie theatre, and after much discussion, we decided to watch Bolt. Gabriel joined us, yet a lot left because they've already watched it and such. Rhino's like super cute, totally the bomb. Yeah, after the movie, left with Roslyn and Springsfield, that's kinda about it. Yeaps.

Thursday was the NSSN chalet. Supposed to go and watch YesMan with the rest before going for the chalet but I ended up accompanying my mum to Thomson Plaza. Paula, Roslyn, Veron and I bus-ed there from AMK and reached the chalet after a really long walk. Hmm, at first it got a bit.. I don't know, awkward, cause we kinda didn't know what to do there, but we then decided to bike. The horror. Yeah, patient Paula [alliteration:D] tried teaching me to cycle while the rest went to rent bicycles. It was really bad, I've absolutely no sense of balance. Paula kept telling me that I had to feel it, LOL, and she was talking all about the gan3 jue2. She even tried the COKE method, asking me to imagine there was a bottle of Coke in front of me, didn't work though): After the 45min lesson, I improved a teeny bit. Thank you Paula for being so patient and walking with me while I was trying to cycle((:

Okay, so I gave up. Both of us went back and started talking. Gabriel came to talk to us and upon knowing I've yet to learn how to cycle, he offered to help(: So there goes the 2nd round. I felt really bad cause he had to hold my bicycle back from falling almost throughout. Oh yes, and WeiJian was cycling beside me, and encouraging Gabriel to let go. LOL I managed to cycle a bit further under Gabriel's guidance. Ah, then Roslyn came back with Amanda, Serena, Elaine and Cherine. My 3rd teacher, Mandy, then took over. I don't know how to describe the process but yeah, I finally learnt how to cycle, and it was like 8pm. Haha I'm not very steady on the bicycle still, like Paula said, must practise more.. one day. =P So that's my cycling journey. Much thanks to Paula, Gabriel and Mandy!((:

Alrights, so all of us went back to get our dinner. One sausage and one chicken wing:D Sat at a corner, heard Peter play the guitar and sing, and we just started talking about random stuff. Little Nonya started and WeiJian was shush-ing everyone, super funny. There were many rounds of TauPok for the guys, and the girls were just.. taking photos and more photos(: Hmm, what else. Basically we just went around taking a lot of photos. I took like I don't know how many photos with WeiJian because he couldn't smile properly, haha. And Paula was like, "Okay, just keep smiling, I take multiple shots!" Gahh. So Roslyn, Serena, Elaine and Amanda decided to go night cycling. Paula, Melissa and I stayed, and decided to go to the beach and take some shots. Lovely. The sky was beautiful. Yeah. Oh yes, we celebrated YanZhu's and Daniel's birthday too. Happy Birthday YanZhu [18th] and Daniel [Today]!

So.. Paula and I cabbed home together at about 11.30pm. Sweet Roslyn, Melissa, Amanda, Louisse and Daniel sent us out(: For once, I wanted so much to stayover and continue having fun with the rest. A pity I had a flight to catch the next day): Well, that's basically it. Elaine and I managed to learn cycling on Thursday! And well, I hope Melissa managed to as well(:

I'm in HongKong now, using my daddy's laptop. Man, I can't use Facebook, Friendster, or any form of MSN cause of some restrictions my dad's company has on the company laptops. All I can do is to like check my email and blog. So I'm sorry for the absence of the pictures, I'll post them up when I'm back! Which is like, Monday night. Yes, if you've anything urgent and you need to contact me, email me. LOL I'll probably check it tmr.

Not So Silent Night was a BLAST.

NSSN was a blast! :D It was a really memorable experience, a concert very different from the previous few. Well, 12 December 2008 started off with section lunch with Phyllis, Swee Jin, Rachel, Alexa, Oswin and ShuHan at Astons:D And Oswin helped me finish up my fries((: Birthday lunch treat and surprise cake was really sweet, although we never really touched the cake in the end, haha(: Bused to VJC for the final rehearsal and all too soon, the concert was about to start.

Everyone got busy changing, doing up their hair, their tie, putting their hairbands in place etc. When I was trying out another set of clothings as skit attire, Amanda just had to trick me into going out of the toilet. Another surprise cake and a really loud birthday song awaited me:D There was Francesca, Paula, Roslyn, Amanda and Springsfield((: Yep. Changed out to the concert attire and got annoyed by the hairband. I'm really not suited for hairbands, really. Gave my xmas buddy, Ignatius, his present:D Then I shared my dinner with Swee Jin, haha we're like food buddies who can't finish their food.

Awesome performance with the section pouch left on stage:D Rushed to the band room during the intermission to change to the skit attire, gahh. Thereafter, the skit took place. I could have done better if I actually heard my voiceover [Christopher] properly, but ahs, it was good! :D Love the girlfriends and voiceovers! [Alexa, Charmaine, Christopher, Garett] Drumset, give me a beat yo! LOL Skit practices were most fun((: Encore was Copacabana, with raised bassoons swinging left to right, coolest section ever! HAHA

After the concert, interaction time. Thanks a lot for the flowers and birthday gifts! All the IJ girls who came to support us; eg Dawn for the many kisses and carrying me for no reason, Liana for the hugs etc. And the 33rd NCO peeps; Kovan, Jason, Alex, Mos for helping me to pack my flowers and all when I was busy:D And all the others((: Thanks plenty! <3

Back to the band room, was taking pictures with lots of people, random people. HAHA. Yeah, giving out the flowers plus letters. WeiJian's my xmas santa; really liked the present(: Hmm, yeah. Stayed around until 12, just hanging around and trying to remember to bring back everything. Unfortunately, I totally forgot about my pair of heels used during the skit until Louis came to me with one side. So shucks, totally lost the other side. The PT was locked and some people said they saw it, some said they cleared it in a box, LOL So my other heel is kinda missing now=/ It was like only the second time I wore it): Yeah, left with Springsfield, and that marked the end of NSSN):

Basically, thank you everyone who came to support the band on Friday, all the Sec 4s and J1s who were part of the event itself, Mr Tan and Dr Goh for making 12December such an awesome day! Clarise loves NSSN'08 and is looking forward to the NSSN chalet this thursday:D Photos would be up tmr, I hope.

Wow the Os are finally over. Well, it's been 4 days since the Physics paper and it feels weird not having to bring a textbook around. Graduation Night was on Friday, glamour day. Apart from the not-being-lucky-enough-to-get-lucky-drawn part, it was pretty good(: I've never been that lucky at lucky draws, so ahs, I accept my fate. There were lots of photo takings and nice food. LOL Yeah. By the end of the entire event, all of our feet were really hurting.

I guess I wouldn't have to worry about my schedule for the holidays. It's gonna be all band-ish:D Band tune ins, band practices with Mr Tan and.. I don't know, fun. The last time I went to practise on my bassoon, I ran out of breath after a few bars. Gee, really bad.

Arrived at the airport on Tuesday with the NCO shirt, then changed into the comm shirt:D Ahs, it was pretty messy at the airport, we were all wearing the orange jackets and bendemeer had their yellow band shirt. Peter Koh was super funny, in the end he just went "I give up trying to find you orange" LOL Yeah. Bassoons are in Group B:D Seats in the aeroplane were random, managed to seat by the window cause Shalyn was willing to exchange seats with me. HEH. When we arrived, went for dinner and then to the hotel. Roommates: MANDY AND FRANNY:D The toilet's disgusting. The room was like some couple room. It was just a piece of glass and a mat that separated the room and the toilet. Even with the bamboo thing there, the toilet was still visible from the outside. See no evil. Mandy and I slept on the Queen sized bed and fran on the single. Gave up the idea of hugging Mandy to sleep, we had extra pillows, LOL:D Oh yes, Bendemeer and Riverside were staying in the same hotel as us, so we saw them pretty often((:

Wednesday, June 18

All our instruments were detained at the airport so no band rehearsal after breakfast. We went to the Temple of Heaven and everyone was kinda suan-ing me cause I was wearing sunglasses and a cap when there wasn't much sun. I had to use it since I actually brought it! LOL Took a lot of photos, invaded many people's pictures. Tried looking for PeiXin for photo taking but I don't think we managed to find her. Masterclass after lunch. We got to know the other bassoon players, they're all super nice and friendly((: Riverside: Michelle, ChungCheng: Lynette and Clara, Bendemeer: PeiXn. Plus IJ: Clarise, Dawn and Liana. Yep. 7 of us. GIRL POWER:D All of us didn't have our instruments, so we kinda just saw demonstrations. Took bassoon photo after that:D After that, kinda just stayed to watch a china band rehearse for the opening cermony, yeap. ChungCheng performed for the opening ceremony as well, don't know what got into us, but we shouted GO BASSOON real loudly. HEH. And there was this group of guys who performed, man that guy playing the sax was so cute with his small eyes. HAHA.

Happy 22(: Sightseeing and the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square was so so killing. Why is the place so so big, It was really really killing having to walk on those uneven steps in converse. I think we went to the Summer Palace as well, our section's crazy, yeap. The bassoons bought the princess hairband thing:D We were clowns there, but ohwell:D It was fun fun fun((; Exchange program with Riverside and a china band was super fun. We were interacting and talking to Michelle throughout. Oh we got to know KangMing and SiYing:D And it was so so funny when Liana fell off the chair while trying to sit further away from me. LOL And everyone started asking if she was okay, which made it even funnier. HAHAHAHA. Lent Dawn's bassoon and my reed to Michelle cause they didn't get back some of their instruments yet. Yeaps. I can't exactly describe it but it was super fun:D The band played pretty well, unexpectedly. We played merry widow with so much spirit I think it gave us even more confidence. I guess everyone was too happy to get back their instruments that we all.. just played well. HAHA

Friday, June 20

Tour of the great wall. Okay, fine, we didn't exactly walk up. HAHA Everyone chose to pay for the slide up and down instead. HEH. We had to like wait for Mr Money(Our tour guide) to get the tickets, so the whole band was kinda lined up at the steps. Yep, the usual us, Dawn, Liana and I started welcoming the people going up to take the slide. LOL We said random Hellos to the ACS junior band members, LOL Super cute. I like that clarinet boy:D And unexpectedly, saw Martyn with them. I was totally like. "OMG, Why are you here? You're still in primary school?!" YEAH. Okay. So the seniors actually tagged along to help the primary kids for the performances. Went to Chang Ping No. 2 Middle School for a performance. The organisation was pretty screwed, and that stupid chair was so so annoying. We were like gonna fall any moment. Okay, performed IJ Heartbeat (by the Percs) and Hot Latin. We could only watch Riverside and ACS junior's performance. Had to leave after that. Blur Dawn claimed she left the vasoline in the tuning room, so we had to go find it before we left. Bendemeer was inside tuning luh. Omg, super embarrassing when we went in, it was super noisy but people started shh-ing each other and then it was total silence, as if we has important news to tell them. Then Dawn just went "Err, sorry, can I find something?" LOL It was so funny. And we were looking looking. HuiLi and Peter offered help((: Peter was like, where did your friend leave it? And when I went, I don't know, he just went, GO ASK HER! LOL He's super funny. AND Guess what. In the bus, Dawn was like "Okay, If I find it in my bag, I'm gonna scream" So she searches her bag, and yep, it's there -.- So much for the embarrassment. According the schedule, we were supposed to have a buffet dinner at the school, but there were some problems, so no buffet there. Oh well. Rehearsed at some hotel at night, yep.

Saturday, June 21

Had the soundcheck and then it was the competition right after lunch. For I don't know what reasons, I wasn't that scared. It was so different from SYF and Genting, somehow, I was pretty confident. The band said the band cheer and we started singing Our Director and Merry Widow after lunch. LOL We were a crazy band, I'll miss the IJ spirit): OH OH. We went down to the toilet and this china guy saw my sash and started taking quite a number of photos of us. LOL Super funny, we just started posing for the photos. HAHA. And just when we were waiting for our turn, just behind the doors of the stage, that same guy took photos of us, and we happily posed. HAHA. It was such a relief to hear the comments from Mr Alan Mills, or is it Dr. Okay, yeap. And then we watched the other bands perform after that. Riverside played Der Vogelhandler and ChungCheng played Merry Widow. Such coincidences huh. HAHA. Yeap, they announced the results pretty abruptly, I didn't even know what the numbers meant until I manged to link it to the results after some time. LOL CHIJ Concert Band: 8.6, 8.5, 9.3, 7.65. Total : 34.5, Average : 8.51/10 :D And we were all like, okay is that Gold, is that Gold? There was the thai band, played super well! We were like, okay, they're gonna get 9.9. LOL But they did really well still, around 8.8 I think. HAHA. I asked Sir and he said Gold's 8 points. Yay(: Okay, so we went down to take a group photo. The thai band was super super friendly! Too bad they don't have bassoon players): While we were walking back up, this thai man came up to me and was like, "You play bassoon?" "Err yeah." "You good musician!" "Oh, thanks" And everyone around me started laughing-.- Found out from Sir last night that he's the Thai band conductor=/ Performance for the closing ceremony was pretty sad, I think only maybe Bendemeer was there watching, don't know where the other bands vanished to): They were super supportive though, started standing while we played Sway. Thanks Bendemeer((: Oh yes, we saw ACS junior outisde while waiting for the bus. The little clarinet boy's JianHao:D Heh. Michelle's super super sweet. She called my room and came over to give me like notes and sweets((: And then it was my turn to write love letters to the bassoon players, LOVE Y'ALL!((:

Sunday, June 22

Happy Birthday Celestine(: We had a workshop with Dr Mills, he's so tall! Like slightly taller than Sir. HAHA. I guess our playing kinda disappointed him a bit cause we weren't as spirited as on the comp day. Went to some tea house and gave Dawn all the tea I was supposed to drink:D I LOVE THE PEE PEE BOY! Was supposed to give one to Peter, but ahh): Anyway, Went back to pack and then we were off to shop:D Kinda shopped with Dawn, Liana and Fran, but Liana went missing after that. We bargained for those colourful bags, we got it at like 30 RMB, cheapest ever. The shopkeeper kinda flared up at us cause we wanted to go look at other shops before coming back to buy tha bags. And so Dawn purposely went to many and told them about the price, everyone was like, damn it. HAHA Then it was the award cermony, funniest ever. There was some scandal in the cornet section, so Dawn and I kinda tried to take advantage of the situation. Anyway, saw the thai band rehearse, and everyone was like saying, GO (SECTION). And we just went, GO BASSOON when there wasn't any bassoon. We also went, "GET A BASSOON!" HAH! We sat upstairs at the sides, then we saw Lynette and Clara. Started taking pictures of each other and blowing kisses. HAHA It was super funny. And I had to tell them my hp number by showing numbers using my fingers. HAHA. And I don't know, some misunderstanding kinda surfaced. Nothing serious though. Met both of them downstairs to take pictures and talk talk:D After the announcements of the results, we had to leave. We were supposed to stay and cheer Bendemeer on, but didn't expect that we had to leave so early)): Sorry! Ahs, yes. So off to the airport, and everyone was complaining and all sad cause we didn't wanna leave. THE TRIP COULD JUST CARRY ON.

Happy Birthday Twin!((: Flight was at 12am plus plus. Sat with Kimberly. Managed to get a window seat cause Zena wanted to exchange with me. Dawn was saying I'm like some kid who wants her window seat. LOL Yeap, was sleeping the whole while. I MISS BEIJING. I miss the Michelle, Lynette, Clara and PeiXin! I miss saying Hi and waving at any random Bendemeer, Riverside, Chung Cheng, ACS junior and Thai band members)): I miss the waving at the JianHao. I miss talking about the guys and deciding which is hottest. I miss teasing Dawn. I miss suaning Liana. I miss telling Franny to stop getting high. I miss instant noodles breakfast with Mandy and Fran. I miss taking lots of peektures of people and places. I miss the whole trip already. I miss sir's jokes, quotes and dancing): I'll miss IJ Band, y'all better not rejoice when I step down. LOL A week more to stepping down date):

HELLO WORLD:D

Alright. Band exchange with Bendemeer yesterday. Let's see, Sec 4 meeting before band, kinda ended up late. Bendemeer came much earlier than we expected, we were supposed to go down and welcome them): LOL I don't know why. Okay, then, I was running around to bring my bassoon there, and dig out the stands for bendemeer. Dawn and I started getting parts from this broken stand to fix the other broken stand and all, gee. We played our warm ups, they played theirs. Then we played our march - OUR DIRECTOR. Mr Chan just had to call me out before we played that : Arrival of the new bassoon:DD Ohwell, missed the whole march, by the time I went back to the hall, they were playing like the last 5 bars already.

Bendemeer played their march, then both schools played DONA. DONA was alright, didn't exactly know how OUR DIRECTOR was. Yeaps, and then set pieces, MERRY WIDOW was OMG. Got kinda annoyed at the fact that people weren't watching, and even when we were lost, people gave that "I AM LOST" kinda look. Rahh. Okay. Yes. ChenFong was filming Bendemeer the whole while:D

What else, oh yes. Bendemeer combined with IJ to play Bendemeer's march. Sight reading was fairly alright I guess. We made a new friend : PEIXIN:D Bendemeer's bassoon player! Yay, bassoon rocks. Okay, yes. And the three of us, kinda bombarded her with questions and stuff. HAHA She's nice((: Soon after the play through, their bus arrived. We went to Peixin's side to err, I don't know, say bye. Liana and Dawn kept touching her bassoon, and at the same time, help her keep the instrument. HAHA, It was so funny. We started saying Hi to any random bendemeer student. Peter gave me FERRERO ROCHERS:DD Yay! Chocolates((: OH YA. We were supposed to get someting for PeiXin, but we kinda forgot, cause we were talking to much at Macs. LOL

Sent them down, started saying BYE like A LOT of times to PeiXin and HuiLi. OH YES. We made more new friends, HuiLi and Tricia!:D Okay, waved like hell. And we tried to shape out the words B-Y-E with our hands and all, didn't work out): Ran over to the other bus, tried looking for Peter, couldn't find him): So ran back to the other bus. Man, we were some weird ones. Okay, I bet many found us super weird): Ahs, see you people at the airport on the 17th! We'll make more friends there:D

Practice after that was.. rah. Got super moody after that, I just didn't feel like talking. Yeah, practice today was a bit better. Still pretty disappointed and worried about the band, I don't know how it's gonna be like. OKAY, IJBAND, WE CAN DO THIS! We'll work together and do our best! I know I shout at y'all quite a bit, so much that y'all get immune to it, but yeah, do this for the band alrights? Don't disappoint Sir, WE CAN DO THIS((:

I'm using my old bassoon now, Liana's using the new one. I'm not exactly used to the new one because of the whisper key. Okay, although dawn and liana says there isn't a difference, but yeah. HAHA. Okay.
